Here you'll find answers to some of the Frequently Asked Questions that we hear on a day to day basis. In an effort to serve our customer's better we've outlined some common steps to resolve basic computer problems.
Q: I have Sasktel High Speed/High Speed Light and I can't connect to the internet or receive email. What should I do?
A: First check to make sure the Ethernet cable is plugged into the back of the computer and the High Speed Modem. On the back of the Ethernet card you should have a link light on. On the High Speed modem you should have a LAN or Link light on. If you don't have either light on try unplugging the Ethernet cable and plugging it back in. If you still don't get a link light replace the Ethernet cable.
The second thing to try is reset the High Speed modem. There should be a power switch on the back, turn it off for about 10 seconds and then back on. The newer "Westel" modems don't have a power switch so you will have to unplug the power cable from the back of the modem for 10 seconds and then plug it back in. Depending on the type of High Speed modem you have your ready/sync/line light will flash intermittently for about 20-30 seconds. Once it stays on solid try checking your email or loading a webpage.

Q: My computer is slow booting up and/or on the internet. What should I do?
A: In our experience the most common cause of a slow computer or slow internet access is the presence of viruses, spyware, adware or a combination of the three. If you don't have updated Antivirus software installed on your computer you can perform a virus scan by clicking on the link in the top right corner of this page. To remove spyware/adware download and install either Ad-aware or Spybot and scan your computer. **Note** Some file sharing programs such as Kazaa may stop working after removing sypware/adware.
Q: I think my computer is infected with a virus! What do I do?
A: First of all, make sure you have an up-to-date anti-virus program (Harvest Moon recommends Norton Antivirus 2004) installed and running on your computer. Using this software, update your virus definitions and run a full system scan, repairing or deleting any infected files.
If you don't have appropriate anti-virus software on your computer, click here to run a FREE web-based virus scan on your computer.
If you know the name of the virus you think your system is infected with, you can download a small program that is designed to remove a particular virus from your system. To see a list of Virus Removal Tools, and how to use them, click here.
